We couldn’t have asked for better weather as we set sail for international waters on Jacksonville's own Victory Casino Cruise.
We arrived at work last Friday to be greeted by Victory’s flashy and fabulous party bus. A short ride and two champagne bottles later, we found ourselves at the docks in Mayport, alongside the cruise liner. The ship set sail around 11 a.m., and we spent the rest of the day trying our luck on the casino games, eating food brought to us by men in sailor outfits, and oohing and aahing at wild Bottlenose dolphins off the port and starboard of the vessel.
To answer your question, no, we didn't make out like bandits. In fact, while none claim to be seasoned gamblers (probably a good thing), we had poorer luck than even we expected, leaving with just small amounts of change rattling in our pockets.
The only winner of the day: Ryan Hickey, our Director of Digital Strategy. After two hours of continuous hands of three card poker, he came out on top, and now holds the title of "resident card shark," until the inevitable return of the S4 team to the Casino cruiser.
Results notwithstanding, our team enjoyed getting out of the office for some fresh air, fresh surf, and the chance to get to know our three new team members (stay tuned for the addition of their profiles). And while we have no photo records of games we played (you know, because it was a Casino), we did capture some pictures from the day. Enjoy!
